Prenatal / Pregnancy Massage
Is there anything better than a massage while you're pregnant? As your body is changing both inside and outside you can often feel overwhelmed. I incorporate my knowledge of prenatal physiology into a custom relaxation based massage that focuses on your needs.
Massage therapy can be performed at anytime during your pregnancy. Special considerations are made during each trimester.
Studies indicate that it can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
Some of the benefits include:
-
Reduced muscle tension and headaches
-
Reduced back pain
-
Reduced nerve and joint pain
-
Improved circulation
-
Reduced Edema (swelling)
-
Better sleep
-
Reduced stress hormones cortisol and norepinephrine (this could lead to strengthened immune system and decreased inflammation)
-
Increased dopamine and serotonin hormone levels (low levels are associated with depression.
Is your pregnancy considered “High Risk”?
As a Certified Pre-natal Massage Therapist I am very comfortable massaging mom's during their high risk pregnancy. I customize each massage to the person. I feel that high risk mom's are the one's that need massage the most during their pregnancy and are the least likely to get it. A doctor's note is always required before the high risk pregnancy massage is preformed. I offer a sliding scale discount if you are on bed rest.

Positioning During the Massage
Most of the time your massage will be done in side lying and semi-reclined positions. You will be supported by pillows placed in specific places for support. I'm often asked but I do not use a massage table with a hole cut out in the middle. These tables create increased stress on your spine and uterine ligaments.
